Karkala, Jan 28: Christ King Educational Institutions, Karkala, organised Achievers’ Day to felicitate students who excelled in sports, literature and cultural activities. The event was held with great enthusiasm to recognise the all-round achievements of students.
Renowned advocate Sadananda Salyan of Karkala was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said that education is the guiding light of life and the true source of strength. He emphasised that achievers must put in relentless hard work to reach success. Highlighting the role of parents, he said parents should act as guiding deities in their children’s holistic development and spend quality time with them instead of being engrossed in mobile phones.


Another guest, Iqbal Ahmed, immediate past president of Rotary Club of Karkala, said that success can be achieved only with the blessings of parents and teachers combined with consistent practice. He urged students to overcome obstacles and move forward on the path of achievement with determination.
Rajarama Shetty, vice-president of the Karnataka State Physical Education Teachers’ Association and Physical Education teacher at Government High School, said unity is essential to achieve success in life. He noted that sincere service to society plays a vital role in shaping children into responsible citizens. Retired physical education teacher and former president of Karkala Taluk Physical Education Teachers’ Association, Ganapayya, described children as precious gems and stressed that parents must teach them how to live responsibly in society.
Member of Christ King Education Trust, Dr Peter Fernandes, stated that students should not restrict themselves only to marks but should learn values necessary for life in society. He added that success is possible only through hard work, discipline, patience and fearlessness.
The principal of the Pre-University section, Lakshminarayana Kamath, presented the introductory address. Aveline Lewis, secretary of Christ King Education Trust, presided over the programme.
Students who achieved at the taluk, district, division, state, national and international levels in education, sports, literary, cultural and scientific fields during the academic year 2025–26 were felicitated. Physical Education teachers Krishna Prasad, Prakash Naik and Lavanya, who played a key role in the institution’s sporting achievements, were honoured with shawls.
