Mangaluru, Jan 27: Carmel School celebrated Republic Day in collaboration with St Ann’s Institute of Education with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The programme, organised by the students of St Ann’s Institute of Education, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and staff.

The celebration began with the hoisting of the national flag, marking the formal commencement of the programme. The event was graced by the presence of Sr Maria Smitha, secretary, St Ann’s Campus Institutions ; Dr A K. Jamaal, vice chairman, Waqf Board; Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza, St Ann’s Institute of Education, along with the heads of various institutions and sisters from St Ann’s Convent and Carmel Convent, Asha Nikethan. In his well-articulated address the chief guest stressed on the values highlighted in the Indian Constitution and work on contributing towards a better society and nation in the future.

Festivities continued further as the students of Grade 5, guided by their class guides Sharmin, Dimple and Juliet, put together a meaningful cultural programme to commemorate the occasion.

The programme commenced with a prayer service which set a tone for a meaningful celebration followed by a graceul welcome dance. A beautifully choreographed dance drama conveyed the ideals of patriotism, unity, sacrifice and national pride.

A patriotic song added to the spirit of the celebration and resonated with the audience. Sr Prem Dsouza, the administrator, stressed on important virtues i.e., justice, equality, fratenity and integrity. She also encouraged the students to be honest and responsible citizens of India.

The masters of ceremony, Hazira Naila, Niditha, and Vibha, coordinated the celebration with confidence and finesse. Shazfa extended a warm welcome to the audience, while Anshika proposed the vote of thanks.
