Mangaluru: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrate 77th Republic Day with patriotic zeal

Mangaluru, Jan 26: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated India’s 77th Republic Day with great pride and reverence on  January 26, 2026.

The chief guest Yam Bahadur Rana S M, 18 Karnataka Battalion NCC Mangaluru (Dakshina Kannada) unfurled the national flag and addressed the students. He urged them to walk together as united citizens of India. He said that we shall show the world our power through unity and discipline. He encouraged all NCC cadets to progress into the armed forces, bring honour to the country and work towards peace and harmony.

Father Rohan D’Almeida SJ, in his speech, emphasised that the Constitution of India governs the country. All citizens of India can help make the nation peaceful by following the Fundamental Rights and Duties. He stressed the importance of every citizen of India standing united and working towards peace and prosperity.

The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of Republic Day through a cultural programme which included skit, dance, patriotic song, and a video presentation about Republic Day.

A prize distribution ceremony was held to honour the winners of various competitions. Shrika Melanta from Class VI D delivered the welcome address. Shlok Ashok Kottary from class III D proposed the vote of thanks.

Amra Fathima and Alsten D’Silva from VIII D compered the programme. Vice-principals Laurel D'Souza and Aparna Suresh were present.
