Mangaluru, Jan 25: Police personnel and journalists are often required to work under constant pressure. Allocating time for sports and physical activities helps in relieving stress, said Mangaluru city police commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy.
He was speaking after inaugurating the annual sports meet of the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association, organised at the KPT grounds, Kadri, on Sunday.




The programme was presided over by association president Pushparaj BN. KPT principal Harish Shetty attended the event as chief guest and conveyed his best wishes.
Mangaluru Press Club president P B Harish Rai, Mangaluru Journalists’ Association state executive committee member Srinivasa Nayak Indaje, district general secretary Rajesh K Poojary and others were present. Executive committee member Harish Motukana proposed a vote of thanks, while vice president Mohammed Arif Padubidri compered the programme.
As part of the sports meet, various recreational and physical events were organised. In the men’s cricket tournament, which was the main attraction, 10 teams participated, with Vartha Bharathi B team emerging champions and Vartha Bharathi A team finishing runners-up.
In the women’s cricket tournament, organised for the first time, Hosadigantha team won first place, while Sanmarga team secured the runners-up position.
At the valedictory ceremony, held under the chairmanship of association president Pushparaj, Press Club president Harish Rai, association general secretary Rajesh Poojary and KPT physical education instructor Sooraj were present and distributed prizes to the winners of various competitions.
