Social worker, organiser & artiste N G Bhat passes away

Mumbai, Jan 25: Senior social worker, organiser and artiste N G Bhat (86), a founder member and senior member of Charkop Kannadigara Balaga Kandivili (R), passed away due to a heart attack at a private hospital in the city on Sunday morning.

A native of Kumuta Chitragi in Uttara Kannada district, Bhat had been residing for several years at Veena Sur Society, Mahavir Nagar, Kandivili West, in Greater Mumbai, where he remained actively involved in social and cultural service.

He is survived by his wife, son, daughter and a large number of relatives, friends and members of the artistic fraternity.

Bhat served Charkop Kannadigara Balaga as a founder member, vice president for eight years and later as an advisor. He was also an active member of the Havyaka Welfare Trust, Mumbai, and was deeply associated with theatre and Yakshagana as both an artiste and a patron of the arts.

Charkop Kannadigara Balaga, along with the president, office-bearers, trustees and members of the Havyaka Welfare Trust, have expressed deep condolences and paid tributes to N G Bhat.
