Karkala: Christ King English Medium Primary School celebrates annual day

Karkala, Jan 24: The annual day celebrations of the lower and higher primary sections of Christ King English Medium School were held in a grand manner on January 23 and 24 at the institution’s newly constructed auditorium.

On January 23, during the lower primary section’s annual day, Fr (Dr) Canute Barboza, parish priest of Miyar Church, Karkala was the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he said, “It is the primary responsibility of parents to create an environment where children can spend their childhood happily without pressure. Keep children happy and let them grow in happiness.”

Guests Sanjeeva Poojary, headmaster of Mahatma Gandhi High School, Kukkundoor, and Anand, headmaster of Government High School, Mala Chaukkiyangadi, spoke on the occasion and conveyed their best wishes.

During the higher primary section’s annual day, the chief guest was Fr Milton Fernandes, principal of Don Bosco High School, Mulladka. In his address he stated, “Our plans first become words, then actions, and finally habits. Children closely observe the behaviour of elders. Therefore, our conduct in front of children should always be good.”

Vidwan Yashwanth M G, Golden Book of World Records achiever and music teacher of the institution, advised students to give up ego, pursue knowledge through continuous learning, and respect parents, teachers, and elders.

Vijaya Hegde, headmistress of Government High School, Nakre, remarked that parents should focus on making their children valuable assets rather than accumulating property for them.

The programme was presided over by Evelyn Lewis, secretary of the management committee. Rudolf Kishore Lobo, headmaster of the primary section, presented the annual report.

Dr Sr Shalet Siqueira, institutional advisor, Lakshminarayana Kamath, principal of the Pre-University section, Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the high school section, administrator Kiran Crasta, and president of the primary section PTA, were present on the dais.

On the occasion, prizes were distributed to students who excelled in various competitions. This was followed by cultural and entertainment programmes by students and a Yakshagana performance titled Mahishamardini by the institution’s Yakshagana students.

During the junior section’s annual day, Deepti welcomed the gathering, Prameela proposed the vote of thanks, and Roopali compered the event.

During the senior section’s annual day, Nagalakshmi welcomed the gathering, Vijetha delivered the vote of thanks, and Alice Lobo compered the programme.
