Yenepoya Nursing College hosts national neuropsychiatry conference

Mangaluru, Jan 23: The Department of Mental Health Nursing, Yenepoya College of Nursing, in collaboration with the Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, organised a national conference on “Redefining Neuropsychiatry: Innovation, Integration & Holistic Approaches for a Changing World” on January 23 at the EMD Hall, Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University.

The conference was inaugurated by chief guests Dr Gangadhara Somayaji K S, vice chancellor, Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University, and Dr Fathima Dsilva, principal, NITTE Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences. They emphasised the uniqueness and highly specialised nature of neuropsychiatry, highlighting the impact of recent advancements in mental health and neurological care.

In her presidential address, Dr Leena KC, dean, Yenepoya College of Nursing, spoke on the growing super-specialisation of neuropsychiatry and its evolving role in the era of artificial intelligence.

Guest of honour Dr B H Sripathi Rao, pro vice chancellor, and in-charge registrar Dr B T Nandish of Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University were present at the event.

Organising chairperson Dr Binsha Pappachan, head of the department of mental health nursing, Yenepoya Nursing College, welcomed the gathering, while Prof Shashikumar Jawadagi, head of the department of medical surgical nursing, proposed the vote of thanks.

A total of 184 delegates from various states across the country participated in the conference.
