Bhopal, Jan 23: BJP leader and former MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur stirred debate on Friday by asserting that the son of a foreign woman is not fit to rule. Speaking to reporters, she invoked the ancient thinker Chanakya, saying, “In our society, in our country… Chanakya, such a great thinker, said something that cannot be untrue. He said the son of a foreign woman cannot be fit to rule.”
Thakur elaborated that true patriots capable of governance must come from indigenous lineage, adding, “This statement cannot be considered false, nor should it be denied to future generations.” She also directed criticism at the Congress party, claiming it lacked ideological clarity and credibility.

“Congress members do not have any ideology. They are suffering now because of their deeds and whatever they did in the past,” she said.
The former MP also condemned individuals who label Hindus or the RSS as terrorists, referencing a book on the 26/11 attacks that she claimed misrepresented the organization. She dismissed such statements as meaningless, asserting that words without certainty hold no value.
On religious matters, Thakur emphasized the primacy of Sanatan Dharma, stating, “There is no other religion; religion is only Sanatan. This Sanatan religion has been attacked. There are other beliefs and sects, but religion is only one – that is, Sanatan.”
Referring to the long-standing religious disputes at Bhojshala in Dhar district, she said compromises after independence should end. While accepting the Supreme Court’s oversight, she called for a permanent resolution, advocating for uninterrupted darshan and no other activities around the temples.
The Supreme Court recently directed that Basant Panchami poojas and Friday Juma Namaz should be conducted peacefully at the contested Bhoj Shala–Kamal Maula complex.
