Karkala, Jan 22: The annual day celebration of Christ King English Medium High School was held on January 22 at the institution’s newly constructed auditorium.
Renowned chartered accountant of Karkala, K Kamalaksha Kamath, participated in the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he advised students to cultivate the habit of respecting god, parents, and teachers from an early age, and to pursue education enriched with good values in order to achieve success in life.
The headmistress of Bailoor English Medium School, Prema Jattanna, who attended as a guest, urged the adolescent students to lead disciplined and value-based lives without going astray, and to bring honour to their parents and teachers.



Another guest, Prabhavathi, headmistress of Government Primary School, Kudubettu Mala, emphasised that every student possesses unique talent and that it is the duty of teachers to identify and encourage these talents. She appreciated the teachers of the institution for recognising and nurturing students’ abilities.
Anand Poojary, physical education teacher at Government Primary School, Kolake, Irvatturu, and recipient of the Udupi District "Best Physical Education Teacher" award, also addressed the gathering. He stated that the institution is one of the best educational institutions in the taluk, which is evident from the large number of students coming from rural areas to seek education here.
The programme was presided over by Evelyn Lewis, secretary of Christ King Education Trust. The school annual report was presented by Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the High School section.
On the occasion, prizes were distributed to students who won various cultural and literary competitions. This was followed by a series of entertaining programmes presented by the students.
Ashajyothi welcomed the gathering, Mangala Kumari proposed the vote of thanks and Neethi Acharya compered the programme.
Among those present on the dais were Dr Prakash Bhat, vice-principal of the pre-University section; Dr Sr Shalet Sequeira, institutional advisor; Kiran Crasta, administrator; Rudolf Kishore Lobo, headmaster of the primary section; and Sharita Noronha, president of the Parent-Teacher Association.
