Bantwal, Jan 22: A car was gutted in a fire after an accidental short circuit occurred at Noodottu near Muttur on the Bantwal–Yedapadavu state highway in the wee hours of Wednesday January 21.

Dheeraesh of Yedapadavu was travelling with his family from Bantwal to Yedapadavu in his car. When the vehicle reached near the Moolarapatna bridge, a fault was noticed in the car’s headlight.

As the car proceeded further and reached the area called Noodottu, smoke began to emanate from the front portion of the vehicle. Naresh immediately stopped the car and ensured that all occupants got down safely. Soon after, flames were noticed in the front part of the car, following which the vehicle caught fire.

On receiving information, local residents rushed to the spot, informed the fire brigade and also brought water from nearby houses to douse the flames. However, nearly half of the car was completely burnt, resulting in heavy losses.
