St Aloysius ITI holds condolence meeting to pay tribute to Dr Leo D’Souza, SJ

Mangaluru, Jan 21: A condolence meeting was held on Wednesday, January 21 at St Aloysius ITI to pay heartfelt tribute to the departed soul of Dr Leo D’Souza, SJ, former director of St Aloysius ITI, who served the institution with great dedication from 1990 to 2006 and passed away on Tuesday, January 20.

The programme began with Noel as the master of ceremonies. He formally welcomed the gathering and gave a brief introduction highlighting the life and service of the departed soul. This was followed by a prayer service led by Wilson, invoking peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved.

The principal, Roshan D’Souza, then shared the inspiring life journey of Dr Leo D’Souza, SJ, emphasising his vision, leadership, and long-standing contribution to the growth and development of St Aloysius ITI.

An opportunity was then given to share personal memories and reflections. Romius D’Souza (retired JTO), Umesh (retired JTO), Divakar (former - JTO), and Arun shared their experiences and spoke fondly about the values, discipline, and compassion embodied by the departed soul.

The director of St Aloysius ITI, Fr John D’Souza, SJ, also addressed the gathering and shared his moments and experiences with late Dr Leo D’Souza, SJ, highlighting his spiritual guidance and commitment to education.

This was followed by a flower petal offering ceremony, where students, staff, and alumni of St Aloysius ITI paid their respects by offering petals to the portrait of the departed soul.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by the principal, Roshan D’Souza, who expressed gratitude to all who participated and contributed to making the condolence meeting meaningful and dignified.

The meeting ended with a moment of silent prayer, remembering the invaluable service and legacy of late Dr Leo D’Souza, SJ.
