Mangaluru, Jan 20: A fire broke out at A Albuquerque & Sons Tile Factory located in Hoige Bazaar here on Tuesday, causing panic in the surrounding area.
The fire reportedly started in the early morning hours and quickly spread across the factory premises. Fire and emergency services personnel from the Pandeshwar and Kadri fire stations rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations.
Despite thick smoke engulfing the area, firefighters made strenuous efforts to bring the blaze under control. The intensity of the fire increased as large quantities of firewood and other materials stored on the factory premises for tile firing caught fire, with flames seen rising high into the air.
No loss of life was reported.
