Kasargod, Jan 20: Two persons were killed and three others sustained serious injuries in a collision between a car and a Taurus lorry at Chattanchal Thekkil on the national highway in Kasargod on Monday night.
The deceased have been identified as Asif Muhammad (41), a resident of Sajip Bailuguttu in Dakshina Kannada district, and Muhammad Shafeeq (23) of Natekal. All the victims are natives of Mangaluru.
The accident occurred when a BMW car rammed into a lorry. The impact of the collision completely mangled the car. Fire and emergency services personnel from Kasargod rushed to the spot and rescued those trapped inside the vehicle. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Kasargod, where two of them were declared dead.


It is reported that five persons were travelling in the car. They were returning from a trip to Wayanad when the mishap occurred.
