Puttur, Jan 20: A retired headmaster lost his life after falling from a coconut tree while plucking peppercorns at Gummattegadde in Bettampady village on Monday January 19.
The deceased has been identified as Narayana Naik Paintimugeru, a resident of Gummattegadde in Bettampady village. The incident occurred when he climbed an aluminium ladder to pluck peppercorns that had grown on a coconut tree in front of his house. While doing so, he slipped and fell along with the ladder.

Narayana Naik sustained serious injuries in the fall and was immediately taken to Puttur hospital. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
He is survived by his wife and two sons.
Narayana Naik had retired as a headmaster from a government school in Badagannur. He had also served as the general secretary of the Brahmakalashotsava committee of the Padumale Sri Kove Shasthara Vishnu Murthy Temple and was actively involved in various organisations.
