Srinivas University, Institute of Aviation Studies organised Mat Making competition

Mangaluru, Jan 16: The Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University, successfully organized an eco-friendly programme titled 'Turn your old clothes into beautiful mats' on January 12, at the Aviation Campus, Hampankatta. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting sustainability and encouraging students to adopt creative and innovative methods of reusing old materials. Students from BBA aviation management and aviation and logistics management actively participated and demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.

A total of 33 teams, with five members in each team, took part in the event. The participants skilfully transformed discarded clothes into attractive and useful mats, conveying a strong message on recycling and waste reduction. The winners of the competition were Akasha, Adhithya S, Kishore K Shetty, Manish Shetty, and Anvith S Poojary from first year aviation and logistics management. The runner-up team comprised Sinchana, Suraksha, Trisha, Rajalakshmi M and Prathvi from first year aviation and logistics management. Their efforts were highly appreciated for originality, neatness, and effective use of old materials.

The event was organized under the guidance of Dr Pavithra Kumari, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies, head of the department, cultural coordinators and with the support of the other faculty members. Navakalpana proved to be an inspiring initiative, motivating students to practice sustainability while nurturing creativity and social responsibility.
