Bantwal, Jan 15: Senior communist leader and former CPI(M) district committee member Comrade Sanjeeva Bangera (87) passed away late Tuesday night, leaving behind a rich legacy of commitment to the working class and the communist movement.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, two daughters and a large number of relatives.
Sanjeeva Bangera, who earned his livelihood as a barber in Bantwal town, was deeply committed to the cause of the poor, labourers and oppressed sections of society. Unable to tolerate the exploitation faced by beedi workers, he actively took up their cause and played a key role in organising them.

He worked tirelessly for the expansion of the communist movement across Bantwal taluk and served as a prominent CPI(M) leader at the taluk level, besides being a member of the district committee. His contributions played a significant role in strengthening the communist movement in the undivided district.
Party colleagues recalled that Comrade Bangera remained deeply devoted to the Communist Party till his last breath, holding firm faith in Marxist ideology and principles.
The CPI(M) has expressed deep condolences, stating that Comrade Sanjeeva Bangera’s demise is an irreparable loss to the district’s communist movement.
