Udupi, Jan 12: In view of the Paryaya Mahotsava at Sri Krishna Math, Udupi, the district administration has imposed comprehensive traffic restrictions, diversions and parking regulations to ensure smooth vehicular movement and public safety. Deputy commissioner of Udupi, Swaroopa T K, has issued a notification enforcing these measures from 2.00 pm on January 17 to 7.00 am on January 18 within Udupi city limits.
Vehicles arriving from Mangaluru towards Udupi and Manipal during this period must proceed directly on National Highway 66 up to Karavali Junction and then enter the city via the Bannanje route to reach the Udupi city and service bus stands, after which they may continue towards Manipal. However, entry of all vehicles into Udupi city will be completely prohibited from 7.00 pm to 7.00 am. During these restricted hours, Karavali Junction will function as the terminal point, where buses must drop passengers and return towards Mangaluru via Ambalapadi and Balaipade on NH-66. Vehicles heading to Manipal should proceed from Karoavali Junction via Ambagilu, Perampalli Road, Coin Circle and Syndicate Circle.

Vehicles coming from Kundapura towards Udupi and Manipal may enter the city until 7.00 pm on January 17 through the Kundapura–Brahmavar–Ambagilu stretch and proceed via NH-66 to Karoavali Junction and Bannanje. From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, entry into Udupi city from Kundapura will be prohibited. During this period, vehicles must terminate at Karoavali Junction, drop passengers and return towards Kundapura via Nittur, Ambagilu and Santhekatte. Vehicles bound for Manipal must take the Perampalli Road through Coin Circle and Syndicate Circle.
Until 7.00 pm, vehicles travelling to and from Kukkikatte, Moodubelle, Alevoor, Korangrapady and Bailoor may enter Udupi city via Chitpadi, Beedinagudde, Sharada Kalyana Mantapa and Kalsanka. From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, vehicle movement into the city from these areas will be restricted, and vehicles must terminate at Mission Compound Road via Beedinagudde and Chitpadi and return from there.
Vehicles coming from Karkala and Manipal may enter Udupi city via the Kalsanka route until 7.00 pm. After 7.00 pm, entry into the city will be prohibited, and vehicles must return from Karoavali Junction via Nittur, Ambagilu and Perampalli, proceeding through Coin Circle and Syndicate Circle back towards Manipal and Karkala.
With regard to long-distance services, all private and KSRTC buses travelling from Mangaluru towards Mumbai and Hubballi on the evening of January 17 must pick up passengers at Balaipade, while those bound for Bengaluru must board passengers at Manipal Inn. Until 7.00 pm, buses may operate via Udupi city bus terminals, but from 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, Karoavali Junction will serve as the final boarding and deboarding point, and buses must proceed using the service roads.
Vehicles arriving from Malpe may enter Udupi city until 6.00 pm on January 17 via Adi Udupi, Karavali Junction and Bannanje. From 7.00 pm to 7.00 am, vehicles from Malpe must terminate at Adi Udupi Junction and return the same way. Vehicles proceeding towards Mangaluru or Kundapura must pass via Karoavali Junction.
Parking of all types of vehicles is prohibited from 2.00 pm on January 17 to 7.00 am on January 18 along major approach roads leading to Sri Krishna Math, including Ambalapadi to Jodukatte, Brahmagiri to Bannanje, Lions Circle to Mission Compound, Bethal Church to Syndicate Circle, Syndicate Circle to Triveni Junction, Triveni Junction to Sanskrit College Junction, City Centre to Chitranjan Circle and Mitra Hospital, Ideal Junction to PPC College, Kalsanka to Rajangana parking area, and Ocean Pearl Hotel to Mathura Hotel. Entry and parking of vehicles are strictly prohibited on all Ratha Beedis surrounding Sri Krishna Math.
Light and two-wheeler parking will be permitted behind Pejavara Math, while parking is prohibited from Woodlands Hotel up to the rear side of Pejavara Math. In view of the expected heavy public participation during the ceremonial entry and exit days, parking restrictions will also remain in force from January 10 to 18 evenings along the Triveni Junction–Sanskrit College–Palimaru Math Gate stretch. Additional restrictions will apply from 9.00 am on January 17 at key junctions including Kinnimulki, Govinda Kalyana Mantapa, Jodukatte, Lions Circle, Diana Circle, Mitra Junction, Ideal Junction and on both sides of Tenkapete Road. The district administration has appealed to the public to cooperate and strictly adhere to the traffic regulations for the smooth conduct of the Paryaya Mahotsava.
