Kundapur, Jan 10: A local court on Friday rejected the bail plea of the accused arrested in connection with the tipper–government bus accident that occurred at the Shetrakatta turn near Neralakatte.
The third accused, identified as Sridhar Sheregar of Kalsanka Road, Mukkeri, Basrur village, had moved a bail application before the principal civil judge’s court, which was dismissed. Assistant public prosecutor Uma Naik argued the case on behalf of the prosecution.

According to the police, the accused had allegedly provided the tipper vehicle for the illegal transportation of soil. The driver of the tipper, Raghavendra from Kudi village in Kokkarne, sustained injuries in the accident and is currently undergoing treatment. He remains under police watch and is expected to be taken into custody once his condition stabilises.
Two girl students suffered serious injuries in the mishap and are undergoing treatment. Of the 39 passengers travelling in the bus at the time of the accident, 14 sustained injuries.
Further investigation into the case is underway.
