Karkala, Jan 7: The state government has appointed Belliappa K U as the new deputy superintendent of police (DySP) of the Karkala police sub-division.
Belliappa, who was serving as DySP at the inspector general of police (IGP) office, Western Range, Mangaluru, has been transferred to Karkala following the promotion and transfer of Dr Harshapriyamvada (IPS), who was serving as Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Karkala.
Dr Harshapriyamvada has been promoted and posted as superintendent of police in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Bengaluru, prompting the latest appointment.
Belliappa has earlier served in various police stations of the district as circle inspector and has also rendered services as DySP of the Kundapur sub-division. He has played a key role as an investigating officer in solving several important and challenging criminal cases in the district.
