Mangaluru, Jan 4: Bajpe police have registered a suo motu case against unidentified persons for allegedly posting provocative and communally sensitive content on social media in connection with an incident reported from Narlapadavu under Bajpe police station limits.

According to police, on December 27, 2025, two separate cases were registered at Bajpe police station following an incident at Narlapadavu. One case pertains to Abdul Sattar allegedly transporting beef illegally on a scooter along with his daughter, while another case relates to Sumith and M Rajath Naik allegedly stopping Abdul Sattar and assaulting him.

Subsequently, a post was shared on Instagram through an account named muslim__leader, wherein photographs of two youths were uploaded along with objectionable remarks. The post allegedly contained derogatory language, communal slurs and inflammatory statements aimed at provoking hatred between communities. The post also named several individuals and alleged that an innocent Muslim father and daughter were assaulted at Narlapadavu under the Ganjimath limits.

Further, police stated that a comment was posted on the same content from another Instagram ID, instg4ama, allegedly stating that the persons concerned should be given “Suhas Shetty treatment soon”, which police have construed as a threat, referring to the manner in which Suhas Shetty was killed.

Bajpe police have taken serious note of the social media posts and comments, stating that they were made with deliberate intent to provoke communal disharmony and issue threats of violence. A suo motu case has been registered at Bajpe police station in Crime No 07/2026 under Sections 351(2), 351(3), 352, 353(2) and 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
