Mumbai, Jan 3: South Indian cinema icon Shivarajkumar has showered praise on Ranveer Singh for his performance in the much-talked-about multi-starrer Dhurandhar, calling the actor’s portrayal nuanced and exceptionally well-executed.
Speaking at the success press conference of his upcoming film 45, Shivarajkumar reflected on Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, and described the film as emotionally compelling with strong performances across the board. He singled out both Akshaye Khanna and Ranveer Singh for their standout work in the ensemble cast.

“The emotional depth of the film was fantastic. The making was very strong, and every actor delivered something special,” he said, adding that the film left a lasting impression on him.
Comparing the two lead performances, Shivarajkumar explained that Akshaye Khanna’s role offered more scope for exploring different dimensions, while Ranveer’s character demanded restraint and subtlety. “Akshaye had the freedom to explore various shades of his role, but Ranveer’s character required controlled, understated acting. That kind of performance is difficult, and Ranveer handled it with great finesse,” he noted.
Emphasising the relevance of ensemble films in contemporary cinema, Shivarajkumar said multi-starrer projects allow for richer storytelling and give actors the space to showcase diverse performances, making them increasingly important in today’s film landscape.
Meanwhile, Dhurandhar has received another boost with the film being declared tax-free in Ladakh. The announcement was made by the Union Territory’s Lieutenant Governor, Kavinder Gupta, who highlighted the film’s extensive shooting in the region and its role in showcasing Ladakh’s scenic beauty. He also reiterated the administration’s commitment to supporting filmmakers and promoting Ladakh as a preferred hub for film shoots and tourism, while working on a new film policy.
Released on December 5, 2025, Dhurandhar has emerged as a major box-office success, further cementing its impact both commercially and critically.
