Oshiwara police nab 30-year fugitive in attempted murder case from Uttar Pradesh

Mumbai, Jan 3: The Oshiwara Police have arrested a long-absconding accused who had been evading the law for more than three decades. The accused, identified as H. Yadav, was wanted in connection with an attempted murder case registered in Oshiwara in 1994.

According to police officials, Yadav fled Mumbai soon after the crime and remained in hiding for years. A non-bailable warrant had been issued against him by the court, but he managed to stay off the radar until recently.

Senior officers said that in the run-up to the municipal corporation elections, police teams undertook a review of old pending cases and intensified efforts to trace absconding accused. During this exercise, investigators obtained Yadav’s phone number, which helped them track his location to Uttar Pradesh.

Acting on the lead, a team from Oshiwara police travelled to Uttar Pradesh on New Year’s Eve and successfully arrested Yadav. He was subsequently brought back to Mumbai and produced before a local court, officials said.
