Brahmavar: 17 boats seized in illegal sand mining crackdown

Brahmavar, Jan 2: Brahmavar police seized as many as 17 boats during raids conducted at various locations under the Brahmavar police limits in connection with alleged illegal sand mining.

Acting on specific information about illegal sand extraction being carried out using boats, the police conducted raids at the Swarna river near Muggeri in Havanji village and the Ammunje area of Ulloor village.

 

During the operation, 17 boats allegedly used for illegal sand mining were seized.

The operation was carried out under the direction of udupi district superintendent of police Hariram Shankar, with guidance from additional SP Sudhakar Naik, DySP Prabhu D T, and Brahmavar circle inspector Gopikrishna. Brahmavar police sub-inspectors Ashok Malabagi and Sudarshan Dodamani, along with station staff, took part in the raid.
