Puttur: Peddler arrested with 400 grams of ganja

Puttur, Jan 2: Acting on specific information, the Puttur Town police arrested a man for allegedly selling ganja at Parladka Junction in Puttur Kasaba village on the morning of January 1.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Tausif (36), a resident of Puttur Kasaba village. Police said that upon receiving information about ganja being sold at the spot, Puttur Town police station PSI Janardhan KM, along with staff, rushed to the location and detained the suspect for questioning. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to possessing banned ganja.

A search led to the seizure of 400 grams of ganja from his possession. Following this, the accused was taken into custody for further legal action.

A case has been registered at Puttur Town police station under Crime No. 02/2026, invoking Sections 8(c) and 20(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985. The accused was later produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
