Mangaluru, Jan 2: Siddakatte church in the Mangaluru diocese has created a new record by raising unprecedented funds during its Christmas and New Year celebrations, reflecting the unity and generosity of the parish community.

As part of the Christmas Night programme organised by ICYM Siddakatte, a 1 kg cake was auctioned for a remarkable Rs 1.5 lac. Adding to the celebrations, the New Year Night programme organised by YCS Siddakatte witnessed another record-breaking moment when a rooster was auctioned for an impressive Rs 1.91 lac, setting a new benchmark in the Mangaluru diocese.

Both auctions were won by parishioner Jerome Lobo and family, who emerged as the highest bidders and etched their names in the parish’s history with their generous contribution.

One of the major highlights of the festivities was the cake auction, which was conducted by Sunil Sequeira, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC), and drew enthusiastic participation from the faithful.

The programmes were graced by the presence of parish priest Fr Daniel D’Souza, Jeppu seminary rector Fr Rajesh Rosario, and guest priest Fr Prakash Menezes, whose presence added spiritual significance and solemnity to the celebrations.

The record-breaking collections stand as a testimony to the strong sense of unity, generosity and vibrant community life of Siddakatte parish under the Mangaluru diocese.
