UAE cuts petrol, diesel prices for January; motorists get relief as fuel rates drop

Abu Dhabi, Jan 1: In a relief to motorists and transport operators, the UAE has announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices for January 2026, reversing the hike seen in December and marking a noticeable decline across all fuel categories.

The UAE Fuel Price Committee on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, notified the revised rates, which will come into effect from January 1, 2026. The new prices reflect a drop in all major fuel types compared to the previous month.

As per the revised tariff, Super 98 petrol will cost Dh2.53 per litre, down from Dh2.70 in December. Special 95 petrol has been priced at Dh2.42 per litre, compared to Dh2.58 earlier, while E-Plus 91 petrol will now retail at Dh2.34 per litre, down from Dh2.51. Diesel prices have seen a sharper cut and will be sold at Dh2.55 per litre, compared to Dh2.85 in December.

Fuel prices in the UAE have been deregulated since 2015, with rates revised on a monthly basis in line with global oil market trends. While December 2025 witnessed an increase over November, the latest revision ushers in the new year with lower prices.

The reduction is expected to offer direct savings to consumers and businesses alike, particularly those dependent on transport and logistics, as the UAE continues its policy of transparent pricing aligned with international fuel movements.
