Gunman opens fire at Idaho Sheriff’s office, three injured; shooter killed by police

Wallace, Dec 27: A gunman opened fire at the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office on Friday afternoon, injuring three people before being shot dead by law enforcement, officials said.

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. in the sheriff’s office lobby, which was open to the public at the time. Shoshone County Sheriff William Eddy said an officer and two women suffered minor injuries. One shot “just nicked” the officer’s ear, while the two women, sitting in a pickup outside the office, were struck in the legs.

The suspect was pronounced dead at 4:15 p.m. Police from surrounding agencies and the FBI responded to the scene. The gunman’s identity has not been released, and the motive remains under investigation.

Wallace, a town of around 800 residents, is located roughly 80 miles east of Spokane, Washington.
