Mumbai, Dec 27: Local train services in Mumbai will be affected on Sunday, December 28, as the railways have announced a scheduled Sunday mega block, impacting operations on the Central, Western and Harbour lines.

Every Sunday, the railways undertake maintenance-related mega blocks, leading to partial disruption of local services. However, officials clarified that the mega block will not affect all railway corridors in the city. As per the latest announcement, no block will be imposed on the Trans-Harbour and Uran lines.

On the Central Railway, a mega block will be carried out on the Up and Down fast lines between Matunga and Mulund stations. The block is scheduled from 11.05 am to 3.45 pm, during which several fast local services are expected to be cancelled or diverted.

The Harbour line will witness a five-and-a-half-hour mega block on both Up and Down lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Chunabhatti stations, from 11.10 am to 4.40 pm. Services on this section will remain suspended during the block period.

The Western Railway will be affected by a major Non-Interlocking Block for the commissioning of an Electronic Interlocking (EI) panel at Borivali. The block will be in force on the Up and Down fast lines from 1.00 am to 7.00 am on December 27–28.

Railway authorities said that Up Mail and Express trains will not halt at Borivali station during the block. Additionally, platforms 8 and 9 at Borivali will remain suspended until December 29.

Passengers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check updated train schedules to avoid inconvenience during the mega block.
