Udupi, Dec 26: A 22-year-old youth lost his life in a road accident in the early hours of Friday, December 26, after the scooter he was riding crashed into a road divider near Mudrangadi Golikatte within the Shirva police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Joswin D’Souza, a resident of Kutyaru village.

According to police sources, Joswin was riding a scooter (KA20 EX 4561) from Mudrangadi towards his residence at around 3.15 am when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into a road divider near the residence of Lawrence D’Souza.

Joswin sustained severe internal injuries to the abdomen in the accident. He was rushed to KMC Hospital, Manipal, for treatment, where doctors declared him brought dead at 4.36 am.

Following a complaint lodged by Lawrence D’Souza (67), the uncle of the deceased, Shirva police have registered a case. Further investigation is under way.

Joswin was the son of late George D’Souza and Maria Tresa. He is survived by his mother and younger sister.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, with the cortege leaving the residence at 3.30 pm, followed by the funeral service at 4 pm at Mudrangadi Church.
