Bantwal: Body of elderly man missing for 10 days found in well

Bantwal, Dec 26: The body of an elderly man who had been missing for the past 10 days was found in a well at Vittal on December 25.

The deceased has been identified as Kallamajalu Poovappa Poojary (65), a resident of Kallamajalu in Kolnadu village. He is survived by his wife and daughter.

According to sources, Poovappa had left his house on December 15, telling his family that he would return shortly, but failed to come back. A missing complaint had been registered at the Vittal police station following his disappearance.

Despite efforts by family members, relatives and friends to trace him, his whereabouts remained unknown. On Thursday, his body was found in a 60-foot-deep well belonging to an unoccupied house at Kallamajalu in Kolnadu village.

Murali Vittal of the Friends Vittal team descended into the well and helped retrieve the body. Vittal police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
