Mumbai, Dec 25: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday underscored the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to transparency and integrity as it enters the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Chitra-Charitra’ (Pictorial Biography) exhibition organized on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Fadnavis highlighted the party’s focus on good governance and accountability for Mumbaikars.
“Our fight is the fight for the people of Mumbai. We have entered these elections to expose those who pursued selfish interests while in power, leaving common citizens neglected. This is not merely about making someone Mayor; it is about ensuring honest and effective administration,” Fadnavis said.

Referring to Vajpayee’s legacy, the chief minister stated that the BJP aims to carry forward the vision of the late Prime Minister by demonstrating how efficient governance can transform Mumbai. “The darkness will vanish, the sun will rise, and the lotus will bloom,” he added. Fadnavis also praised Vajpayee for shaping India’s foreign policy, driving infrastructure initiatives such as the Golden Quadrilateral and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and turning India into a nuclear power despite global pressure.
The chief minister reiterated that the party’s focus is on serving Mumbaikars and maintaining integrity in civic administration, rather than personal political gains. “Our fight is for the people. Whether someone becomes Mayor or not does not matter,” he said.
BJP Mumbai president and MLA Ameet Satam lauded Fadnavis’ contributions to the city, citing projects like the Metro, Atal Setu, the Coastal Road, and 560-square-foot homes for BDD Chawl residents as examples of effective governance. “The people of Mumbai are impressed, and we are confident that the Mahayuti’s saffron flag will fly over the BMC,” Satam said.
Fadnavis concluded by emphasizing that the party seeks to uphold the values of accountability, transparency, and public service championed by Vajpayee, while striving to deliver tangible results for the city’s residents.
