New Delhi, Dec 25: An 18-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by two of his friends and his body dumped in the Munak Canal in Outer North Delhi following a personal dispute linked to a relationship, police said.

The accused, identified as Ashish (23) and Vishal Dhilod (23), residents of Tikri Kalan area in northwest Delhi, were arrested after an intensive investigation by Samaypur Badli police, Deputy Commissioner of Police Hareshwar Swami said.

According to police, a PCR call was received on November 22 reporting a body floating in the Munak Canal near the Haiderpur Water Treatment Plant. The body was recovered with the hands and feet tied using shoelaces, a handkerchief around the neck, and three sharp injuries on the head.

An FIR under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Samaypur Badli police station. The deceased was later identified as Ankit, a resident of Sadar Bazar, who had been reported missing from the Gulabi Bagh area since November 18.

Investigations revealed that the murder was triggered by a personal dispute. Police said Ashish was angered by Ankit’s relationship with his cousin sister and was upset that Ankit continued contact despite repeated warnings.

Detailing the sequence of events, police said the accused called Ankit to Tikri Kalan Metro Station and took him to a house in Gaddha Colony on a scooter. There, they allegedly drugged him, tied his limbs and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. The body was later loaded into a mini truck and dumped into the Munak Canal near Hanuman Temple in the Bawana area.

Police have recovered the murder weapon, the mini truck and the scooter used in the crime. Further investigation is underway.
