Mangaluru: Srinivas University organizes hands-on workshop on EEG & NCS

Mangaluru, Dec 25: The department of neuroscience, IAHS, Srinivas University, organized a hands-on workshop on Electroencephalography (EEG) and Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS), 'Neuro Nexus 2025' on December 20 to enhance students' practical skills and clinical competence in neurodiagnostic techniques.

The programme was inaugurated by the vice-chancellor, Dr Sathyanarayana Reddy, who highlighted the vital role of technology-driven advancements in neuroscience and emphasized the need for strong technical and clinical training in modern neurodiagnostic practice.

The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Prof Pavana Krishnamoorthy, dean, IAHS, and coordinated by Vikhyath Bangera S, assistant professor, department of Neuroscience as the convener, with organizational support from Nachammai V E, assistant professor, department of Neuroscience, and Nadhiya, assistant professor, department of Physician Assistant Studies.

The hands-on training sessions were facilitated by four distinguished guest experts Appu S , Muniraj K, Praveen Kumar R, and Subramani R who possess extensive experience in the field of neurophysiology.

The training included comprehensive demonstrations and supervised practice sessions on EEG electrode placement, signal acquisition, artifact identification, and basic interpretation, along with practical exposure to motor and sensory Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS).

The guest experts actively interacted with the students, offering individualized guidance and sharing valuable clinical insights.

A total of 80 students' actively participated in the programme and engaged enthusiastically in the hands-on sessions. The participants were permitted to work with the equipments, batchwise

The programme was highly informative and beneficial, significantly enhancing the student's technical proficiency, confidence, and clinical understanding. Overall, the EEG & NCS hands-on training programme successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, contributing meaningfully to the professional development of the participants. The programme ended with the happy note.
