Mangaluru, Dec 23: The Christmas celebrations held at St Agnes PU College on December 23, was an edifying and heart-warming occasion that beautifully reflected the true spirit of the season.
The highlight of the programme was the dance drama presented by Sonaly Shiny Ferrao and her team, which brought to the fore the profound themes of sacrifice, renewal, and redemption.
The dance drama highlighted how grossly commercialised Christmas has become and how it has largely devolved into mere fun and partying. The performance attempted to drive home the point that we need to reclaim tradition by focusing on simpler, more meaningful celebrations centred on family, community service and faith. Through expressive movements and emotive storytelling, the performance left an indelible impact on the audience and conveyed the message of hope and compassion that Christmas signifies.

Adding to the buoyant mood was the angelic carol singing by Sharal Correa and her group, whose melodious renditions echoed the festive spirit and filled the auditorium with cheer and enthusiasm.
The programme was graced by the chief guest, Mariette D’Silva, former principal, Tejasvini College of Nursing, Mangaluru, whose presence lent dignity to the occasion.
The chief guest shared an inspiring message where she exhorted the students to imbibe universal values of compassion, kindness, and sharing. She remarked that the bonds forged today would see them through the vicissitudes of life. She highlighted that discipline and education lay a strong foundation for future success and advised the students to value and appreciate their parents. She concluded her address by extending warm greetings to everyone on the occasion.
The programme was gracefully anchored by Alisha Luviza Sequeira and Erica Diya Menezes & Roopashree, who steered the audience smoothly through the events. Frizel Rishall Fernandes expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to its success.
Overall, the Christmas celebration was a memorable occasion that fostered a sense of togetherness and reminded everyone of the deeper meaning of the season. The convenors, Joel, Evita and Carol, through their meticulous planning and coordination, ably orchestrated the entire programme.
Principal Sr Norine Dsouza, vice principal Sr Janet Sequiera, along with the staff and students, were an intrinsic part of the occasion.
