Bantwal, Dec 20: In a tragic incident, a newspaper distributor allegedly ended his life by jumping into a well near the Bantwal bypass in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Prashanth Baliga (54), a resident of Badakette–Daivagudde, Bantwal. As per routine, Prashanth left his house around 4 am to distribute newspapers and milk to houses in the locality. It is said that he delivered newspapers and milk to a few houses before the incident.

Police suspect that between 5 am and 8 am, he may have jumped into a well located near the bypass, leading to his death.
Passersby noticed his two-wheeler parked unattended by the roadside and grew suspicious. On checking the nearby well, they found his body inside and immediately alerted Bantwal Town police.
Bantwal Town police inspector Ananthapadmanabha visited the spot, conducted an inspection, and registered a case. Further investigation is underway.
The deceased is survived by his mother, wife, five brothers, two sisters, three daughters, and a large number of relatives and well-wishers.
