Hands-on workshop on cyber forensics and questioned document analysis held at Srinivas University

Mangaluru, Dec 20: The Department of Forensic Science and the Department of Digital and Cyber Forensic Science, Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Srinivas University, organised a one-day hands-on workshop titled “Pixel to Paper” on cyber forensics and questioned document analysis on December 17 at the Medical Block Auditorium, Mukka, Surathkal. The workshop witnessed active participation with 121 registered participants.

The inaugural programme was presided over by Dr K Satyanarayana Reddy, vice-chancellor, Srinivas University, who emphasised that digital forensics has become the need of the hour in modern crime investigation.

Dr Swathi D, head of the departments of Forensic Science and Digital & Cyber Forensic Science, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the objectives of the workshop. Prof Pavana Krishna Murthy, dean, Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences, stressed the importance of interdisciplinary learning and hands-on exposure in forensic education. Dr Sucheta Kumari N, research director, Srinivas University, spoke on equipping students with industry-oriented skills to enhance employability and research outcomes.

The chief guest and resource person, Darshan Murli from the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science, addressed the participants and shared insights on the growing relevance of forensic expertise.

A key highlight of the inaugural session was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of Forensic Science, Srinivas Institute of Allied Health Sciences, and the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science.

The technical sessions were led by Darshan Murli, focusing on questioned document analysis techniques such as signature and handwriting analysis, minutiae identification, and digital microscopy. The afternoon session provided hands-on training in digital forensic tools including UFED, Mobile Edit, and OSForensics, offering participants practical exposure to digital evidence acquisition and analysis.

The valedictory programme featured feedback from students, who appreciated the practical orientation of the workshop. The dignitaries and resource person were felicitated on the occasion. The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates and the National Anthem.
