Kochi, Dec 20: Veteran Malayalam actor, screenwriter and filmmaker Sreenivasan passed away on Saturday following a prolonged illness. He was 69. The celebrated artiste breathed his last at a private hospital in Kochi, where he had been undergoing treatment.
A towering figure in Malayalam cinema, Sreenivasan enjoyed a prolific career spanning several decades as an actor, writer and director, leaving an indelible imprint on the industry. Renowned for his sharp social satire, wit and deeply humane storytelling, his work reflected contemporary social realities with rare honesty and humour.

Sreenivasan’s extensive body of work includes landmark films such as Sanghaganam, TP Balagopalan MA, Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam, Nadodikkattu, Akkare Akkare Akkare, Gandhinagar 2nd Street, Pattanapravesham, Varavelpu, Midhunam, Chithram, His Highness Abdullah, Thalayanamanthram, Sandesham, Chandralekha, Chinthavishtayaya Shyamala, Friends, Udayananu Tharam, Arabikkatha, Oru Naal Varum, Katha Parayumpol, and Njan Prakashan, among many others.
His collaborations with leading filmmakers and actors helped shape multiple phases of modern Malayalam cinema, earning him widespread acclaim and several awards over the years.
