Brahmavar, Dec 17: The AICS (Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools,) Athletics Meet 2025 of Udupi District, hosted by SMS English Medium School (CBSE), Brahmavar, was successfully conducted on December 13 at the SMS Stadium. The meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from nearly 28 schools across Udupi district, making it a vibrant and highly competitive sporting event.
The programme commenced with a spectacular march past by athletes from the participating schools, followed by a welcome address by Abhilasha S, principal of SMS English Medium School.
Keerthana, gold medalist at the Khelo India Games 2025, graced the occasion as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the meet. In her inspiring inaugural address, she motivated the young athletes to strive for excellence and urged them to uphold the values of discipline, dedication, and true sportsmanship.
The programme was presided over by Fr M C Mathai, correspondent and president of the programme. In his address, he emphasised the importance of sports in shaping a balanced personality and highlighted the vital role of physical fitness in nurturing a healthy and active mind.
The valedictory ceremony, held in the evening, was also presided over by Fr M C Mathai. In his valedictory address, he stated that success is the result of hard work and perseverance. He congratulated all the athletes on their achievements and wished them continued success in their future endeavours.
The meet concluded with the lowering of the school flag, marking the formal closure of the AICS Athletics Meet 2025.
The programme was attended by Alan Rohan Vaz, general secretary; Johnson Crasta, school secretary; Steevan Rodrigues, school treasurer; Thomas Edison Vaz, PTA president; and Abhilasha S, principal, along with other dignitaries, management committee members, officials, teachers, and students.
