Udupi, Dec 17: Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology & Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara (SDM) College of Ayurveda, Hospital & Research Centre, Udyavar, Udupi on December 15, to promote interdisciplinary collaboration between engineering and Indian traditional healthcare systems.

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in the areas of technology-enabled healthcare solutions, software and application development, collaborative research, academic exchange, internships, and community health initiatives. The partnership seeks to integrate modern engineering expertise such as software development, artificial intelligence, and data analytics with Ayurvedic clinical knowledge to address contemporary healthcare challenges.

Under this collaboration, students of SMVITM will gain hands-on exposure to real-world healthcare IT projects, while faculty and students of SDM College of Ayurveda will benefit from training in digital tools, data handling, and technology-based healthcare systems. The MoU also includes provisions for joint research projects, workshops, seminars, wellness programmes, health check-up camps, and outreach activities aimed at benefiting students, faculty, and the wider community.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at SDM campus in the presence of both institutions. From SMVITM, Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, Dr Sachin Bhat, dean (R & D and Consultancy), Mahadevi, assistant professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Dr Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO of SODE Group of Institutions, along with other officials, including Ramdas, office manager and Suresh Kotian, public relations officer, were present. From SDM College of Ayurveda, Dr Mamatha K V, principal, Dr S R Moharer, head of the Department of Physiology, and Dr Ravi Bhat, assistant professor, Department of Physiology, participated in the ceremony.
