Mumbai: Two injured in gas cylinder blast at Mankhurd Chawl

Mumbai, Dec 17: Two persons sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder blast in a chawl at Mankhurd on Tuesday afternoon. Both the injured were rushed to the civic-run Sion Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment, officials said.

The incident occurred around 3.40 pm on 30 Feet Road in Janata Nagar, near Madina Hospital, Mankhurd. As per preliminary information, a gas cylinder exploded inside a room, causing damage to a portion of the roof of the structure.

Local residents immediately rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Sion Hospital for medical care.

The injured have been identified as Prithviipal Jaspal (40), who sustained around 30 per cent burn injuries, and Rajesh Khichad (25), who suffered approximately 25 per cent burns.

Further investigation into the cause of the explosion is underway, officials added.
