Mangaluru: Student safety training programme held at Carmel School, Kotekar

Mangaluru, Dec 13: Carmel School, CBSE Kotekar conducted a student safety training programme on December 11, with the objective of equipping students and staff with essential safety awareness and life-saving skills.

The programme was led by Capt M K Boppanna and M Bhaskar from the Infimind Institute of Skill Development. The resource persons were formally introduced by Tr Swetha at the beginning of the sessions.

Capt M K Boppanna, a retired army officer, has dedicated over four decades to training in fire safety, first aid, CPR, and emergency response, and has extensive experience in conducting safety programmes for educational institutions and organisations.

M Bhaskar, CEO and managing director of Infimind, brings more than 40 years of professional experience in finance, compliance, legal affairs, and corporate training, contributing significantly to skill development initiatives.

The morning session, conducted by Capt Boppanna, focused on abduction and transportation safety. He created awareness about various types of abduction, preventive measures, and the importance of alertness and presence of mind. Students were also guided on safety protocols to be followed while travelling by school buses, autos, and public transport. The session included practical demonstrations on stage, with active participation from students and teachers, making the learning realistic and impactful.

The afternoon session concentrated on fire and safety training. Capt Boppanna demonstrated methods to identify fire hazards, respond effectively during emergencies, and use different types of fire extinguishers correctly. Both teachers and students were given hands-on opportunities to practice extinguishing fire under supervision, which helped build confidence and reinforced proper emergency response procedures.

Overall, the training programme was informative, interactive, and highly beneficial. It significantly enhanced awareness and preparedness among students and staff, empowering them with crucial safety knowledge and practical life-saving skills.
