Panaji, Dec 13: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Goa unit has asked senior leaders Michael Lobo and Dilip Parulekar to explain their public comments on corruption following the December 6 Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub fire that claimed 25 lives.

BJP Goa president Damodar Naik said at a press conference on Friday that both leaders, who previously served as ministers, have been asked to submit written clarifications. “I have heard the statement by both the leaders. I have sought clarification from them for making such statements,” Naik stated.

Lobo and Parulekar had alleged widespread corruption along the coastal belt during a discussion on a national news channel, claiming it fuelled illegal activity in the tourism sector. Naik added that action against the leaders will be considered after reviewing their responses. “We are running a political organisation. We are a disciplined party. Everyone has to be within the limit,” he said.

Naik also countered allegations by AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on BJP corruption, saying, “Let Kejriwal tell us why he was thrown out of Delhi. He was claiming to give good governance.”
