Dubai, Dec 11: India celebrated a standout moment at the Asian Youth Para Games 2025 in Dubai as young swimmer Abdul Quadir Indori clinched two gold medals, triumphing in both the 50m Butterfly and 50m Backstroke events. Congratulating him on X, the Paralympic Committee of India hailed the achievement as a symbol of his hard work and the growing prowess of India’s emerging para-athletes.

The Games officially opened on Wednesday with a vibrant ceremony showcasing cultural performances and welcoming delegations of young para athletes from across Asia. Iran, the dominant force at the 2021 edition in Bahrain, leads the field once again with the largest contingent of 195 athletes, underlining its strong investment in para-sport development. Uzbekistan, Thailand, and India each bring 122 athletes, tying for the second-largest delegations.

Host nation UAE is represented by 55 athletes, reflecting the country’s expanding commitment to promoting inclusion and para-sport excellence through organisations such as the Asian Paralympic Committee and the Dubai Club for People of Determination. This is Dubai’s second time hosting the Games after 2017, reinforcing its position as a key regional centre for para-sport.

The competition will also feature some of the continent’s top young stars, including Iran’s Para Taekwondo silver medallist Zahra Rahimi from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, and Chinese Taipei’s Chen Po-Yen, the ITTF World No. 1 and Paralympic silver medallist in Class 11.
