Mangaluru, Dec 11: Human Rights Day was observed with great enthusiasm at St Marys High School, Falnir, on December 10 through an informative awareness programme for students.
The chief guest, Rosama P P, sub-inspector of police, delivered an impactful session covering various aspects of child safety and wellbeing. She educated students about good touch and bad touch, encouraging them to recognise unsafe situations and to report immediately to parents, teachers, or responsible adults.

She also highlighted the importance of staying healthy during the changing weather, explaining how illnesses such as chickenpox, flu, cold, and viral infections spread rapidly. She urged students to maintain cleanliness, eat healthy food, and follow proper hygiene practices.
During her address, Rosama also stressed the need to follow traffic rules for personal and public safety. She explained the severe consequences of not wearing a helmet, including head injuries, permanent disability, and even loss of life. She reminded students that following traffic rules is not only a legal duty but also a way of respecting one’s own life and the lives of others.
The programme began with a prayer, followed by a welcome speech by Sara Leem. Students presented a skit on human rights and performed meaningful cultural items like Dance & mime show highlighting equality and responsibility. Under the guidance of class teacher Sr Reshma, students were motivated to do more, explore their creativity, and deliver an impressive performance throughout the programme.
The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Fathima Arsh.
