Media Release

Dubai, Dec 10: A new chapter began for the Karwar diocese faithful in the UAE as more than 90 members representing 69 parishes and 7 deaneries came together to officially inaugurate the Karwar Diocese Dubai Community (KDDC). The launch marked a historic moment for the diaspora, forming a united platform to preserve their roots, strengthen their identity, and support one another while living abroad.

The evening also witnessed the much-anticipated unveiling of the official KDDC logo and the community’s first T-shirt/Jersey, symbols designed to embody belonging, pride, and togetherness.

To celebrate this milestone, the community hosted 'Christmas Saanj 2025', a festive gathering filled with warmth, music, and shared spirit a night where celebration met purpose, and unity found its voice.

Distinguished guests grace the occasion

The event was honored by the presence of Fr Victor Fernandes, spiritual director of St Mary’s Mangalorean Community, Dubai (SMMC), and Joseph Mathias, prominent businessman, philanthropist, Mayura Awardee, and coordinator of St Mary’s Mangalorean Community, Dubai (SMMC). KDDC senior members Epipan Miranda, Santosh D’Souza, Marceline Fernandes, and Sevanthi also graced the occasion on the dais.

In his address, Fr Victor Fernandes encouraged members to remain active in community initiatives and church life, reminding them that faith blossoms through service and collective action. An evening of meaning, celebration, and new beginnings

The programme opened with a warm welcome by Santosh Miranda, who reflected on the significance of forming KDDC. An uplifting opening prayer was then led by Sabastian Rodrigues and his team, grounding the evening in gratitude and hope. Prajwal Lopes introduced KDDC’s mission and vision, outlining its purpose as a home away from home for every Karwar Diocese member in the UAE.

The event was gracefully compered by master of ceremony Doris Lopez, who steered the celebration with poise and professionalism. A symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, joined by all chief guests, together with the lighting of the Christmas tree, marked the formal beginning of KDDC’s journey a gesture that illuminated both the room and the spirit of the community. The evening continued with joyful carol singing by KDDC members, followed by lively games and activities that strengthened bonds and filled the hall with laughter and shared joy. Santosh D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the guests, community members, and especially the core team for their dedication and hard work in bringing the event to life.

A community strengthened by togetherness

The celebration concluded with a fellowship dinner, offering members the opportunity to connect, share stories, and deepen relationships. A brief feedback session allowed participants to offer suggestions and ideas, reflecting the community’s commitment to growth, transparency, and collaboration.
