Mangaluru, Dec 9: International Volunteers Day (IVD) 2025 mega programme, organized by Yuvanika Foundation & Health Volunteers in partnership with UN Volunteers India, was a vibrant celebration of leadership, service, and global citizenship held at St Agnes College, the event brought together over 1,200 youth and volunteers to honor the spirit of volunteerism and its vital role in sustainable development.
Inaugurator U T Khader, speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, highlighted the power of young minds as changemakers, inspiring youth to build a more sustainable world through volunteerism. Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal of St Agnes College, presided over the event.














The programme featured inspiring addresses from distinguished guests, including Ivan D’Souza, MLC, government of Karnataka who emphasized the importance of compassion and responsibility in volunteer efforts. Special guests included Christian Hainzl, regional manager – Asia & the Pacific, UNV, Bangkok, and Meenakshi Arya, IAS, assistant commissioner of Mangaluru.
Resource persons such as M Jaikishen Bhat and IVD programme coordinator Raghuveer Souterpete shared impactful messages on the significance of volunteerism. Director Rishi Bansiwal addressed opportunities for volunteers, reaffirming the theme: 'Every contribution matters – Youth leaders as catalysts of large-scale volunteerism'.
The event reinforced the transformative role of youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as India moves towards IYV 2026, emphasizing that every act of service, big or small, contributes to global progress.
Cadets of NCC Celine D’Silva, who participated in the AIVSC, were felicitated for their dedication and achievement. Additionally, Sonal Jessica Crasta, who successfully completed the Para Basic Course, was honoured for her accomplishment. Hitesh Bangera was also recognized for his outstanding achievement in volunteerism.
Program was successfully conducted under the guidance of Raghuveer, Yuvanika Foundation and Gayathri BK, programme cordinator, St Agnes College.
