St Aloysius to host English adaptation of classic Sanskrit farce ‘Yogi Vs Bhogi’ on Dec 10

Mangaluru, Dec 9: St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) hosts 'Yogi Vs Bhogi': Punah Theatre's English adaptation of the classic Sanskrit farce Bhagavadajjukam, directed by Sahitya Akademi Awardee Mahesh Dattani.

The Ranga Adhyayana Kendra and the department of English at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru, in collaboration with Punah Theatre, Manipal, are excited to present "Yogi Vs Bhogi", a vibrant English adaptation of the renowned Sanskrit farce Bhagavadajjukam. This witty production, adapted and directed by the celebrated playwright Mahesh Dattani—a Sahitya Akademi Award winner—delivers a hilarious exploration of the eternal tug-of-war between asceticism and indulgence, infused with contemporary humour and sharp social insights.

Performed by the innovative Punah theatre from Manipal, known for their dynamic workshops and fresh takes on classical works, the play will take the stage on December 10, at 6:00 PM in the LCRI Auditorium at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University). With free entry, this event is open to all, offering a delightful evening of theatre that bridges ancient wisdom with modern-day follies.

This staging reflects the university's dedication to promoting performing arts, language studies, and cultural collaborations.
