Mysuru, Dec 8: In a major public health initiative, a city-wide Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) drive was recently conducted across Mysuru to inoculate stray dogs against rabies. The drive, organised by People For Animals (PFA), Mysuru and Reaching Out To Animals (ROTA), aimed to prevent the spread of rabies and ensure a safer environment for both animals and residents.
According to officials, the drive covered 30 locations, where 116 community dogs received the anti-rabies vaccine. Additionally, 15 dogs were treated on the spot for minor ailments such as skin infections.

The vaccination programme reached several localities, including Tilak Nagar, Mandi Mohalla, Sayyaji Rao Road, Devaraja Urs Road, Chamarajapuram, Freedom Fighters Park, Siddappa Square, Lakshmipuram, N.R. Mohalla, Bandipalya, J.P. Nagar, Srirampura, Kuvempunagar, Ashokapuram, Vivekanandanagar, Ramakrishnanagar, Dattagalli, and Hinkal.
As part of ongoing care, booster ARV doses were also administered to dogs previously sterilised under the Animal Birth Control (ABC) programme, ensuring continued protection against rabies. The organisers stressed that such drives are crucial for community health and animal welfare.
