Kaup, Dec 7: A burglary that took place at a locked house in Kinnigudde of Katapady Kote village has come to light belatedly, after miscreants broke open the lock and made away with cash and gold.
Prabhakar Ameen of Deep Jyothi House, Kinnigudde, had left for Mumbai on November 26 along with his wife and son to attend his nephew’s wedding. When the family returned on December 5, the theft came to light.

On their return, they found a machete near the door, the main door damaged, and the kitchen-side door open. On entering and inspecting the house, they discovered that Rs 17,000 in cash, a 1-gram gold baby earring, a 1-gram gold pendant with a swastik symbol, and a 2-gram gold ring — altogether gold ornaments worth Rs 20,000 — had been stolen.
A case has been registered at Kaup police station and investigation is underway.
