Mangaluru: World AIDS Day awareness session organized at St Agnes College

Mangaluru, Dec 5: The Youth Red Cross Unit of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru, organised an awareness session on the occasion of World AIDS Day on December 1 on the topic “Unite for a World Without AIDS.” The session began in the Room No A4, Avila Block.

The programme was compered by Nashara from I BCom, who warmly welcomed the gathering and introduced the significance of observing World AIDS Day. She highlighted the need for awareness, compassion, and the elimination of stigma and discrimination associated with HIV/AIDS.

The resource person for the session was Prajwal Rao, HoD and assistant professor, Department of Microbiology, St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru. She delivered an informative and insightful talk on HIV transmission, prevention methods, myths and facts, and the importance of building a supportive and inclusive environment for people living with HIV. Her session helped students understand the scientific, social, and emotional aspects of HIV/AIDS.

Towards the end of the programme, Pavithra from I BSc proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the resource person, the YRC staff coordinator Nimitha K, secretary Serena Saldanha, faculty members, and all students for their active participation.

The session proved to be highly informative and meaningful, inspiring students to spread awareness and contribute towards creating a world free from discrimination and stigma.
